Angela & Michael | Engaged

Angela and Michael are the most adorable couple! She is definitely a girly-girl which was so fun, because Angela was so open to working with me on design concepts and and styling ideas. What we decided on ended up being magical! Angela, Michael, and I thought it would be so fun to do an entire evening {including dinner, dessert, and relaxing} all set out in the beautiful San Diego sun. Last winter I did a 5 week backpacking trip through Europe and while there, I toured the Palace of Versailles in France. I was so inspired by the beautiful colors and exquisit details. Bring a lover of glitter and glamour herself, Angela quickly fell in love with my idea for a Marie Antoinette inspired set for dessert. Then we came up with something a little simpler for dinner – something that would reflect Michael’s love of nature and both their loves for the holiday season. Even though we transitioned between three sets for dinner, dessert, and a romantic relaxing night together, we used plum, navy, and burgundy colors throughout the entire shoot to tie everything together. All the adorable signs that Design by M did for us just worked so perfectly with the “dinner” set. The vintage flower arrangements paired perfectly with the yummy cupcakes from Gluten Not Included for the “dessert” set. The chaise lounge from Classic Party Rentals made this shoot so sophisticated and was the perfect piece for our “relaxing” set. {And I think Angela and Mike really had fun posing on it.}

I think we did a great job of creating the glamorous, yet outdoorsy set that Angela and Mike were looking for. The golden glow from the sun as it reflected off the eucalyptus trees warmed up Angela and Michael’s stunning faces so perfectly. The day could not have been any more perfect! Everyone was so great to work, especially Angela and Michael. To be part of Angela’s dream engagement and wedding experience brings me so much joy!

Matt & Joyce | Married

Matt & Joyce were married in February and I had the distinct honor of being their wedding photographer. The setting was absolutely gorgeous {sunny day, view of Downtown San Diego, the marina} – sigh! But nothing compared to Joyce’s stunning natural beauty in her Steve Madden shoes and perfectly swept-up hair. The emotional ceremony began and we all laughed and cried as Matt & Joyce shared stories about when they fell in love with each other. It was perfect. The day ended in a super fun dance party – I even took part in it! It was a gorgeous day with a gorgeous couple, inside and out! Enjoy just a little taste of their day.

John & Piper | Engaged

John and Piper are two of the funnest people I know. They enjoy camping, taking Chloe {see dog below} for walks, mustaches, and each other. These two love birds will be gettin’ hitched in San Luis Obispo in May, but before they do, I wanted to snatch them up for a little engagement shoot. Since they spend a lot of their time in the great outdoors, we thought what better theme for their photos that CAMPING and the beach!? So we set out to the Marian Bear Park for some themed photos and then packed it all up and hit the beach for some more casual fun. It was a chilly day, but I think that made these two even more snuggly. Awww! John and Piper, I wish you the best in your marriage. With your servant hearts, I know it will be a lifetime of love and joy.

The NotWedding | Styled Engagement Shoot

I am just thrilled for this post! On March 5, I will have the distinct pleasure of participating in The NotWedding, San Diego – the ultimate {fake} wedding that allows brides-to-be to see wedding vendors in action. It’s a great alternative to a typical bridal show. Brides, if you’re looking for inspiration for the wedding of your dreams, this is THE event for you.

A couple weeks I got to meet the lovely NotWedding Couple, Dannielle and Richard for their styled “engagement shoot”. This gorgeous couple was absolutely stunning in bright colors…just a hint at what you can expect at The NotWedding. Although this couple has actually been married for 5 years, they cuddled, sighed, and laughed just like newbies in love would. So sweet!

The styled shoot was super fun, bright, and creative. The NotBride and NotGroom even got to get a little creative themselves with their very own canvas painting! Everything from the furniture to the flowers was just picture perfect. Couture Events did an amazing job styling the shoot and all the little details in the flowers, signs, banners, and even her outfit went together so perfectly. Alma & Paul | Save The Date

Alma was working on a cruise ship when she met Paul. He was there visiting his sister and didn’t expect anything but sights and good food, but when he took one look at Alma he knew she was the one. A whirl-wind romance took them around the world and finally to Tuson, AZ where they are planning their wedding in IRELAND! But…they’re actually already married! Alma and Paul eloped in a quiet setting and are now planning the official ceremony and reception so that all her family in Ireland is able to be part of this special time.

When they first called, Alma explained to me that she needed a photo for their Save the Date card that was going to read “We took the plunge, now join us for the party”. After thinking about where the heck in San Diego they could jump {or pretent to jump} into the ocean I remembered the rocks on Coronado. After watching the weather all night, we decided they should make the drive that Sunday morning. Paul and Alma drove 12 hours {6 hours each way} for this photography session. The weather, the clouds, the location, and their attitudes did not disappoint. This adorable couple was so playful and willing to do almost any treacherous task I asked them in order to get the shot. In between handstands and kisses, Alma and Paul climbed into their vintage rental bride and groom attire and then up onto the slippery rocks over the Pacific. Everyone had a blast, I got a little wet, and it was all totally worth it!

Kristin & Jeff | Married

Kristin and Jeff had a beautiful little wedding in Point Loma. Surrounded by the ocean and family, they said their vows and completed the wedding ceremony with the most amazing rose ceremony – a symbol of two families coming together. Afterwards, this couple and all their guests enjoyed a relaxed, fun, and intimate reception at a private residence in Ocean Beach. It was the perfect day for such a beautiful wedding!

Paige & Bryan | The Wedding

Paige and Bryan’s wedding day has arrived! On a beautiful and warm October Sunday, Paige and Bryan said their vows in front of their family and friends. I didn’t think this couple could get any more beautiful after their engagement shoot a few months ago, but boy was I wrong! Paige and Bryan looked like they came straight from Vintage Bride Magazine. Not to mention, their wedding was adorned with personal touches designed by the groom himself! It was simply perfect.

Olga & Mike | Engaged

When Olga first reached out to me about shooting her wedding to her fiance, Mike, she knew she wanted to do engagement photos that really reflected who they are as a couple. She’s a bit more vintage, he’s a surfer, and together they are one adorable couple! We came up with some ideas, locations, and props that all worked very well together to represent their personalities and life together. Then it was time to shoot.

We had a blast, chased the sun a bit, and even got soaking wet for this one! I was so impressed and excited when Olga and Mike jumped right into the ocean at the end of the shoot for some very beautiful, passionate, and romantic beach photos. Just take a look at this lovely couple. I can’t wait for the wedding next year!

Amanda & Mike | Engaged

Amanda and Mike met while in college. Both athletes, they spent much of their time at Amanda’s volleyball games, Mike’s baseball games, and flirting with each other in the training room {how cute!}. Five wonderful years later and they are now engaged and getting married next summer! We went back to their old stomping grounds to get photos of where their relationship all began. After exploring the university, we headed over to where Mike proposed to Amanda and got some shots of them hanging out on the dock of Mission Bay.

This couple is still as playful as I’m sure they were back in college. I had tons of fun catching shots of them giggling and flirting with each other as if they were a brand new couple. I’m so looking forward to shooting their wedding next summer. If it’s anything like their personalities, it’s sure to be a fun, relaxing, effortless day full of love!
